The India-Bangladesh Friendship Gate was inaugurated in February 2018. It’s open to the public now, with a similar ceremony as that of the Wagah Border.

What is India Bangladesh Friendship Gate?

The India-Bangladesh Friendship Gate is a beautiful and symbolic structure that has been built to commemorate the friendship between the two countries. The gate is adorned with symbols of both countries, and it is a beautiful sight to behold.

Where is India Bangladesh Friendship Gate?

Dawki is about 70 km away from Shillong, and here lies the India-Bangladesh Friendship Gate. Dawki is the Indian village bordering Bangladesh, and on the other side of the gate is Tamabil.

Why is Dawki famous?

Dawki is a small village in Meghalaya that has a crystal-clear Umngot River and is considered one of the cleanest rivers in Asia. Here you can see the river bed, making it a good place to take photographs. It gets a lot more visitors than Shillong or Cherrapunji because of the clarity of the water and the photo opportunities.

Make sure to visit the Dawki River if you are visiting the India-Bangladesh Friendship Gate. It is about a kilometer and a half from the gate and Mawlynnong Living Tree Bridges are 35 km from here. You will enjoy it very much.
